RIDE check, collision, complaint lead to alcohol-related driving charges

Three locals face alcohol-related driving charges after a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spotcheck, a collision and a complaint led to arrests on Sunday.

A 50-year-old Selwyn Township man was arrested at a RIDE spotcheck on Ward Street in Bridgenort­h at about 2 a.m.

Mark Johnston was charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and is to appear in court on Nov. 29.

A 48-year-old Peterborou­gh man was arrested after police were called to a collision on Highway 115 at about noon.

James McIntosh was charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and is to appear in court on Nov. 22. A 56-year-old Peterborou­gh woman was arrested after police responded to a traffic complaint on County Road 21 at about 8 p.m. Catherine Rose was charged with care and control of a vehicle while impaired and care and control with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and is to appear in court on Nov. 29. Peterborou­gh County OPP are reminding motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol and to use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight.
