FLEMING COMPETES AT WORLD FIREFIT
The Fleming College fire combat team won a silver medal in the co-ed X3 division and a bronze medal in the co-ed relay at the 2018 FireFit National Championships held from Sept. 5 to 9 in Calgary. The two volunteer coaches were full-time firefighter Shawna Coulter as head coach and 2015 team alumni Trevor Russell. Team members included Kendal Freshwater, Gaelen Palleske, Drew Goble, Kaylea Brunatti, Eric Fregonas, Mak Hope and Logan Cornelius. Team member Janell Stonehouse was unable to attend. Fregonas and Brunatti, along with coaches Coulter, Russell and Danny Grant, moved on to compete at the World Firefighter Combat Challenge in Sacramento, Calif. from Oct. 21 to 27, after Fleming qualified as top Canadian school in 2016 and 2017 Firefits.
