Longtime Community Counselling and Resource Centre executive director Casey Ready will retire in April, officials with the charitable, not-for-profit organization announced “with mixed emotions” Wednesday morning.

She will remain in the position until a successor is named and the leadership transition is completed, officials stated in a press release, adding that the board search for a new executive director is underway.

Ready said it’s hard to say goodbye, but she is happy with the accomplishments of the organization, which is the result of a 1998 amalgamation of Family Counselling Services and Information Peterborough.

“Over the 17 years I’ve been at CCRC, we’ve completed the amalgamation of our two founding agencies and developed services that help people maintain and secure housing, strengthen relationships, and gain control of their finances,” Ready stated. “It is easier to retire knowing that CCRC has the dedicated and talented Board, staff and volunteers needed to carry that mission forward.”

Ready joined CCRC in 2001 after leading the United Way of Peterborough and District from 1993 to 1999 and Peterborough Social Planning Council from 1999 to 2001.

She is known as a positive, motivating leader and for her ability to be strategic while managing the many details of a complex organization, officials stated.

Ready was instrumental in consolidating CCRC services into a central and more accessible downtown location and has worked collaboratively with board, staff and volunteers to bring leadership to CCRC and to advocate for social justice on issues affecting clients.

The organization has provided professional, caring services that make a positive and lasting difference in people’s lives and within the community for more than 60 years.

With 25 staff serving more than 6,500 households every year, CCRC makes an important difference in clients’ lives and in the overall health and wellness of our community, officials stated.

“On behalf of the board of directors, and the staff and clients of CCRC, I want to say a huge thank-you to Casey for her leadership and dedication to social justice,” stated board president Beckie Evans.

“We are immensely grateful for Casey’s vision and leadership in developing and enhancing CCRC and its services and connections throughout Peterborough city and county. The strong foundation of CCRC today, is Casey’s legacy.”

CCRC is also well-known for its annual Jukebox Mania fundraiser, which returns to the Peterborough Memorial Centre on April 27 at 6:30 p.m.

The “name that tune” game challenges players to name musical artists, movies, jingles and television shows from various musical genres.
