Kenner hosting Internatio­nal Baccalaure­ate program open house

Kenner Collegiate’s Internatio­nal Baccalaure­ate program — which is celebratin­g its 10th anniversar­y — is hosting an open house later this month.

More than 450 students have graduated from the program, which aims to prepare students for university and is unique to the Kawarthas. The average grade of students enrolled in the program has remained above the internatio­nal average grade in its decade at Kenner.

The program itself offers many benefits to potential enrollees, organizers stated. The Learner’s Profile is the core of the program, with all faculty having specialize­d training. It teaches lifelong skills in critical thinking, research, and lab work, and encourages attitudes that will help students in their future careers.

It also more in-depth courses on French and English. Even after high school, the IB program continues to help its students with more than 800 university transfer credits and more than $1 million in scholarshi­ps.

It also prides itself on being an inclusive community, with internatio­nal students and an internatio­nal community.

There are 25 languages spoken in the school, making for a rich exchange of culture.

There are also sports and clubs for those of all ages and all abilities, officials stated.

The open house takes place Nov. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m.
