Lakefield men’s club seeking singers for choirs

Calling All Singers! The AOTS (As One That Serves) Men's Club at Lakefield United Church is inviting singers to join the community choirs that will sing at the 39th Annual Community Christmas Carol Service at 7 p.m. on Dec. 2.

Practices for the Senior Community Choir will take place at the church on Nov. 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 7:30 to 9 p.m., with the final practice on Dec. 1 at 9 a.m. The Junior Community Choir welcomes children and youth (Grades 3 and up) to their practices on November 10, 17, 24, and December 1 at 1 p.m. Call Brenda Neill at 705-652-7300 for more informatio­n.

Both choirs are single purpose choirs, with no continuing commitment required.

Lakefield Youth Unlimited

There will be a “Tea, Treats and Shopping” event on Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1724 8th Line, Lakefield. All proceeds will support Lakefield Youth Unlimited.

Ennismore Heritage Artspace

The Ennismore Heritage Artspace Centre is hosting a Christmas Craft Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The centre is located at 507 Ennis Rd. and there will be handcrafte­d gifts and home décor, as well as a tea room and free parking. This is a fundraisin­g event for the Centre. Call 705-292-5112 for more informatio­n.

One Stop Christmas Shop

Once again, the ‘One Stop Christmas Shop’ Vendor event is happening on November 17 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Lakefield Legion.

Non-perishable food donations are welcome and will support the Lakefield Food Bank.

Christmas at the Marshland Centre

Christmas at the Marshland Centre will be on November 17 and 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 64 Hague Blvd. in Lakefield.

There will be new local artisans and many local artisans from previous years. Admission is free, and donations for the Lakefield Food Bank and Lakefield Animal Welfare Society are welcome.

Selwyn Public Library

Resume Writing Workshop: Join Agilec for a talk about resumes. Agilec will also critique resumes and give feedback. The workshop will be in the Lakefield Library Centennial Room (next door to library) at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Register by phoning the Lakefield Library at 705-6528623.

Remembranc­e Day Presentati­on: Learn about the history and importance of Remembranc­e

Day in a presentati­on by the Royal Canadian Legion at the Bridgenort­h Library at 10 a.m. on Friday. Register by phoning the Bridgenort­h Library at 705-2925065.

Bridgenort­h United Church

There will be a Veterans Parade at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. It will be a service of commemorat­ion led by Rev. Anne Gowans Blinn held at the Bridgenort­h Heritage Park. Refreshmen­ts and a light lunch at the Bridgenort­h United Church will follow the service, provided by the United Church Women.

There will be a Silent and Live Auction on Nov. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church, located at 832 Charles St. in Bridgenort­h. You can bid on brand-new items as well as services and entertainm­ent items. A kayak valued at $645 will be auctioned off between 12 and 12:30.

This popular auction features something for everyone with something happening every minute.

Pop a balloon with a valuable surprise inside! Stop for lunch at the Tasty Lunch Bar. Come early and bring a friend.
