Peterborough County OPP welcoming new leader
Insp. Lisa Darling grew up in area
Peterborough County OPP will soon welcome a new leader to the helm as Insp. Lisa Darling takes over as detachment commander on Dec. 10.
She currently holds the same role at Northumberland OPP, after moving up the ranks in June 2015.
Darling grew up in the Peterborough area and said she’s looking forward to her new position.
"I am excited about building new relationships and engaging with community leaders, stakeholders, policing partners and the men and women of the Peterborough detachment as we continue to build a collaborative and focused approach to community wellness and public safety,” Darling stated in a release.
The inspector is replacing Insp. Tim Tatchell, who transferred back to lead City of Kawartha Lakes OPP. he joined the Peterborough County OPP as a staff sergeant in 2012, later becoming detachment commander while
continuing to live in Kawartha Lakes.
"I have truly enjoyed my tenure at the Peterborough County detachment and the opportunity to lead such dedicated and professional members. I know Inspector Darling will provide strong leadership, continued community engagement and an ongoing commitment to public safety. I wish her all the best as she assumes this role,” Tatchell stated.
Darling - who could not be reached Tuesday - is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University and the Executive Development in Policing Program from the Canadian Police College.
She started her career with the OPP in 1995, serving with the Chatham and Lambton detachments and West Region Headquarters.
In 2007, Darling moved to the OPP General Headquarters in Orillia.
There, she held a series of cross command positions in the First Nations and Municipal Policing Bureau, the Provincial Commander’s Office, the Commissioner’s Office and the Business Management Bureau.
She was promoted to staff sergeant as executive office to the deputy commissioner and executive services in 2011, prior to assuming the role of detachment commander in Northumberland County.
Northumberland OPP polices Cobourg, Campbellford and Brighton.
