Program offering free financial literacy events
A local counselling and resource organization is hosting free financial literacy events to celebrate Credit Education Week in Canada.
Credit Counselling Service of Peterborough is offering a workshop explaining credit ratings and scores and showcasing a financial literacy display.
Credit Education Week Canada runs until Friday and November is Financial Literacy Month.
On Wednesday, workshop What’s the Score will take the mystery out of credit rating and score, clarifying what they are, how they impact us and how to protect them. The lunch and learn workshop runs from noon to 1 p.m. at the Community Counselling Resource Centre (CCRC) on George St. N.
Credit Counselling Service of Peterborough is a program of CCRC’s, which offers a number of services, including a housing resources, credit counselling services, professional counselling, and the community service order program.
The financial literacy display will also be at CCRC until Friday. It offers saving ideas and free resources. Visitors can enter a free draw for a gift basket that includes a $25 grocery story gift card. The display can be viewed between 9 a.m. and noon and 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday.
Credit Counselling Services of Peterborough will also be at the YWCA’s Family Financial Literacy Night on Thursday. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and includes community displays, mini workshops and guest speakers.
