Shutout for Chiefs against Is­lan­ders

An­drew Bar­win­ski stopped 23 shots as the Lake­field Chiefs blanked the Gananoque Is­lan­ders 2-0 in PJHL East Di­vi­sion cross-over ac­tion Satur­day night in Lake­field.

Jeff Hawthorne net­ted the win­ner on a power play 4:40 into the sec­ond pe­riod and Karn Dart added an empty-net tally with 52 sec­onds re­main­ing. Zac Treen, Tar­ren Jank and Jesse Mer­rill had as­sists.

On Fri­day night, Robert Frack­el­ton scored a short-handed goal with 1:16 left in reg­u­la­tion and Jack­son Sav­ery scored 1:34 into over­time to rally the host Uxbridge Bru­ins past the Chiefs 5-4. The Chiefs (13-3-1) sit first in the Orr Di­vi­sion two points ahead of the North Kawartha Knights (12-3-1) and three up on Uxbridge (12-5-0).

Mer­rill, Wil­liam Keith, Dart and Max Moloney scored for Lake­field on Fri­day. Adding as­sists were Cole Rob­bins, Jank, Hawthorne, Evan Mar­lowe, Dal­ton Smith, Treen and Car­son Hartwick.

The Chiefs host the Port Perry Mo­jacks 7:25 p.m. Tues­day at the Lake­field-Smith Com­mu­nity Cen­tre.
