Hanna sixth at championships
Peterborough’s Janelle Hanna placed sixth at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association cross-country running championships for a second straight year.
The two-time Ontario Colleges Athletic Association women’s champion, who attends Fanshawe College, was the top OCAA runner on Saturday at Seneca College.
Hanna, 23, finished the six-kilometre course in 24:06 missing the podium by 26 seconds. Lethbridge’s Sophia Nowicki won the gold in 23:32.
After competing at the University of Guelph for two years and Fanshawe for two years Hanna told The Examiner last week it was likely to be her final collegiate race. She has one year left in her medical radiation technology course.
