Hanna sixth at cham­pi­onships

Pe­ter­bor­ough’s Janelle Hanna placed sixth at the Cana­dian Col­le­giate Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion cross-coun­try run­ning cham­pi­onships for a sec­ond straight year.

The two-time On­tario Col­leges Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion women’s cham­pion, who at­tends Fan­shawe Col­lege, was the top OCAA run­ner on Satur­day at Seneca Col­lege.

Hanna, 23, fin­ished the six-kilo­me­tre course in 24:06 miss­ing the podium by 26 sec­onds. Leth­bridge’s Sophia Now­icki won the gold in 23:32.

Af­ter com­pet­ing at the Univer­sity of Guelph for two years and Fan­shawe for two years Hanna told The Ex­am­iner last week it was likely to be her fi­nal col­le­giate race. She has one year left in her med­i­cal ra­di­a­tion tech­nol­ogy course.
