Sinopoli finalist for CFL Outstanding Canadian

-

Peterborough native Brad Sinopoli is back as the Canadian Football League Eastern Division’s nominee for Most Outstanding Canadian player of the year. Sinopoli will again face West Division nominee Andrew Harris, a running back with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, for the award in a rematch of last year’s top Canadian contest that was won by Harris.

Sinopoli, a graduate of Crestwood Secondary School, won the award in 2015 in his first year as an Ottawa Redblacks receiver. The CFL will honour its top performers at its annual awards banquet Nov. 22 in Edmonton during Grey Cup week.

Sinopoli, 30, posted a recordsetting campaign with Ottawa. He had a league-high 116 catches — a single-season record for a Canadian — with 1,376 yards, third in the league, and four touchdowns.

He has now had more than 1,000 receiving yards each season for four seasons in a row with the Redblacks.

Harris led the CFL in rushing for a second straight year, running for a career-best 1,390 yards. The Winnipeg native also had 58 catches for 451 yards and scored 11 TDs this season.
