Council to be sworn in a week earlier

City council may hold its inauguration at a special meeting on

Nov. 26, a week earlier than planned.

Council was scheduled to be inaugurated on Dec. 3 at City Hall; it was also going to be council’s first chance to go look at draft documents for the 2019 budget, later that evening, and they were to have a general committee meeting too.

Mayor-elect Diane Therrien said they are considering holding a special inaugural meeting on Nov. 26, instead.

That way they can focus solely on the inauguration, and the following meeting on Dec. 3 will focus on budget and general committee matters.

No confirmation was available on Monday from City Hall, however; the building was closed in observance of Remembrance Day.

Therrien said more details about the time and place will be released by the city soon.

Councillors will hammer out their 2019 budget in mid-January.
