Santa Claus plans to visit Omemee soon

Annual parade comes together in village on Highway 7

- ELIZABETH PEETERS

After some concern that a longstanding tradition would end, it has been confirmed that the Santa Claus parade is on for 2018. The parade will gather at Scott Young Public School, Walnut St. from noon-12:45 p.m. Dec. 1. At 1 pm the parade will proceed down King St./Highway 7 to the Legion.

All interested individuals, groups and businesses are invited to join in. No candy can be thrown from the floats for the safety of the spectators.

On Nov. 30 at 7 p.m., outside Coronation Hall, the Lions’ Annual Tree Lighting celebration will take place. The Omemee Baptist Church members will be leading a carol sing. Hot chocolate and treats will be available and it is rumoured that a special visitor from the North Pole will stop in for a brief sojourn.

Donations can also be mailed to the Lions Club, Attention Jennifer Lavelle fund, Box 188, Omemee K0L 2W0 or given to Lion Shannon Brohm, Manager of the Omemee Service Centre, Coronation Hall.
