Man charged with driving under influence of pot
An Omemee man allegedly under the influence of cannabis was arrested Saturday night after a collision in Peterborough.
City police received a call reporting an erratic driver heading north on Armour Road at about 9:45 p.m., hitting snowbanks. The caller stayed on the line and reported that the vehicle had failed to stop for a red light at Water Street and Nassau Mills Road and hit another vehicle.
Police arrived and suspected the driver was impaired. He was checked by a qualified police drug recognition expert and arrested.
Derek Scott Emery, 30, of Cedarview Drive in Omemee, was charged with impaired driving by drug (cannabis), and failing to stop at a red light.
He received a 90-day licence suspension and had his vehicle impounded, and will appear in court Dec. 13.
