- Cathie Morrissey, chair of JSH Board

RE: ROSEMARY GANLEY TO RECEIVE YMCA PEACE MEDAL, NOV. 14

Jamaican Self-Help, the organization that Rosemary Ganley and her husband, John, founded is thrilled that Rosemary is being honoured on November 23rd by receiving this year’s YMCA’s peace medallion. Rosemary is truly a humanitarian as she works diligently on gender equality by representing Canada at the United Nations Conference on Women and serving on the G7 council on gender equality issues.

Following her vision, JSH has continued to be a strong force in the Jamaican community of Kingston as it supports schools and resource centres in order to improve the lives of children and youth. Rosemary has continued to be a strong advocate of JSH. She delivered the Ganley Lecture in 2017, made contacts in Jamaica on a JSH monitoring trip and made an inspiring presentation about her Walk on the Camino as a fundraiser.

JSH continues to encourage the wonderful citizens of Peterborough to support our cause. Our 12th annual Artisan Show and Sale coming up on November 24th and

25th at Mark Street United Church at 90 Hunter Street East. What a great way to find a unique gift for someone special and at the same time support youth and educational projects in Jamaica.

Thanks again, Rosemary, for founding and continuing to support this organization, Jamaican Self-Help. Congratulations on your award!
