Peter­bor­ough video game firm brings Flu­tie aboard

Re­tired quar­ter­back will be the brand am­bas­sador for Canuck Play’s Max­i­mum Foot­ball

Lo­cal video game com­pany Canuck Play is wel­com­ing re­tired CFL foot­ball player Doug Flu­tie to its team. Flu­tie will be work­ing with Canuck Play and its part­ner Spear In­ter­ac­tive as the brand am­bas­sador for new game Max­i­mum Foot­ball.

“I’m ba­si­cally a kid at heart, who lives for play­ing sports in per­son or on the screen. This part­ner­ship gives me the chance to join the video game space and I’m look­ing for­ward to help­ing grow the Max­i­mum Foot­ball brand.” Flu­tie stated in a press re­lease.

Max­i­mum Foot­ball, the ti­tle that Flu­tie is pro­mot­ing, is the only game on the mar­ket fea­tur­ing U.S. col­lege, Cana­dian and U.S. pro­fes­sional styles of play. The game also has Flu­tie as a player.

Flu­tie is con­sid­ered one of the best quar­ter­backs of all time. He is the 1984 col­lege foot­ball Heis­man Tro­phy win­ner, six-time Most Out­stand­ing Player, and three-time CFL cham­pion. He and his wife have an es­tab­lished char­ity, the Doug Flu­tie Jr. Foun­da­tion for Autism. He is cur­rently the lead an­a­lyst for NBC Sports cov­er­age of Notre Dame foot­ball.

“We’re ex­tremely ex­cited to have Doug on board,” David Win­ter, pres­i­dent of Canuck Play, stated in a press re­lease. “His ac­com­plish­ments at all lev­els and styles of grid­iron foot­ball are well known, and he is the ob­vi­ous nat­u­ral fit for our ti­tle.”

Canuck Play was de­vel­oped with as­sis­tance from the In­no­va­tion Clus­ter.

“This is a game changer for the Peter­bor­ough-based game de­vel­op­ment com­pany,” In­no­va­tion Clus­ter pres­i­dent Michael Skin­ner stated in a press re­lease. “Doug Flu­tie em­bod­ies the Canuck Play brand and we are ex­cited to see a lo­cal com­pany bring­ing on such a prom­i­nent fig­ure in their in­dus­try.”

Max­i­mum Foot­ball is cur­rently avail­able in both the Xbox and PS4 dig­i­tal down­load stores.
