Peterborough video game firm brings Flutie aboard
Retired quarterback will be the brand ambassador for Canuck Play’s Maximum Football
Local video game company Canuck Play is welcoming retired CFL football player Doug Flutie to its team. Flutie will be working with Canuck Play and its partner Spear Interactive as the brand ambassador for new game Maximum Football.
“I’m basically a kid at heart, who lives for playing sports in person or on the screen. This partnership gives me the chance to join the video game space and I’m looking forward to helping grow the Maximum Football brand.” Flutie stated in a press release.
Maximum Football, the title that Flutie is promoting, is the only game on the market featuring U.S. college, Canadian and U.S. professional styles of play. The game also has Flutie as a player.
Flutie is considered one of the best quarterbacks of all time. He is the 1984 college football Heisman Trophy winner, six-time Most Outstanding Player, and three-time CFL champion. He and his wife have an established charity, the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism. He is currently the lead analyst for NBC Sports coverage of Notre Dame football.
“We’re extremely excited to have Doug on board,” David Winter, president of Canuck Play, stated in a press release. “His accomplishments at all levels and styles of gridiron football are well known, and he is the obvious natural fit for our title.”
Canuck Play was developed with assistance from the Innovation Cluster.
“This is a game changer for the Peterborough-based game development company,” Innovation Cluster president Michael Skinner stated in a press release. “Doug Flutie embodies the Canuck Play brand and we are excited to see a local company bringing on such a prominent figure in their industry.”
Maximum Football is currently available in both the Xbox and PS4 digital download stores.
