Crack dealer go­ing to jail

A Peter­bor­ough crack dealer is go­ing to jail.

Shan Pa­tel, 34, was sen­tenced to six months in jail by Jus­tice Stu­art Konyer in On­tario Court of Jus­tice on Oct. 30.

In Au­gust 2017, Peter­bor­ough po­lice re­sponded to a dis­tur­bance call in the area of Ge­orge and Char­lotte streets.

Pa­tel was ini­tially charged with caus­ing a dis­tur­bance. Fol­low­ing the ar­rest, which Pa­tel re­sisted, po­lice say he was found to be in posses­sion of crack co­caine, drug para­pher­na­lia and cash.

Pa­tel pleaded guilty to posses­sion for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing while his caus­ing dis­tur­bance, ob­struct­ing a peace of­fi­cer and posses­sion of prop­erty ob­tained by crime charges were with­drawn. He will be on pro­ba­tion for 12 months af­ter his re­lease from jail.
