Low of -17.9 C snaps record

The low temperatur­e of -17.9 C on Thursday morning in Peterborou­gh snapped an 86-year-old record, according to Environmen­t Canada.

The temperatur­e topped the previous historic low temperatur­e of Peterborou­gh for Nov. 22 of -17.8 C that had been set in 1932, Environmen­t Canada said. The record-breaking low followed a gusty day that saw winds reach 66.6 km/h at the Peterborou­gh Airport.

With the wind chill, Thursday morning’s low temperatur­e felt more like -25 C by around 8 a.m. Thursday.
