Patients without doctors have local health care options

-

Peterborough City and County residents are fortunate to live in a community with many health care options. With Peterborough Family Health Team (FHT) being one of the largest FHTs in the province, there are approximately 110,000 patients under the care of the partnering FHT family doctors. Patients of the FHT doctors have access to same day appointments and an Extended Hours Service.

Residents without a family doctor or nurse practitioner now have access to two clinics located in the City of Peterborough and in Lakefield. This means all residents now have access to primary care. The Peterborough Virtual Care Clinic (City of Peterborough) connects patients with a doctor through a secure telemedicine network. At the PFHT Clinic (Lakefield) patients meet with a nurse practitioner to receive the care they need. Both clinics will place residents without a primary care provider on a wait list for a new family doctor who joins the community.

All patients have access to Peterborough FHT programs and services, such as Mindfulness, Sleepless in Peterborough, Craving Change, FHT to Quit, and many others.
