The word is out: Scrabble Club meets at Bridgenort­h library

Are you a Scrabble lover? The Bridgenort­h Library Scrabble Club meets at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Join like-minded Scrabble lovers for some fun and social word play at the monthly Scrabble Club. Please register in advance by calling the Bridgenort­h Library at 705-292-5065 or emailing Heather at hjamieson@mypublicli­brary.ca.

The Ennismore Library Book Club and Lakefield Library Book Club are welcoming new members. The Ennismore Book Club meets every third Monday at 10 a.m. and the Lakefield Book Club meets every fourth Monday at 7 p.m. in the Centennial Room (next door to the Library). All are welcome.

The Township of Selwyn is currently accepting applicatio­ns for the 2019-2022 Selwyn Public Library board. Members of the Library board oversee library operations, strategic directions and work with library staff to provide library services. The deadline for applicatio­ns is Dec. 1. Christ Church

Christ Church Community Museum invites you to join them at their annual Christmas Tree Lighting at 6:30 p.m. on

Dec. 7. After the tree lighting, there will be carol singing in the church with special guests Jessica Ross and Noah Abrahamse. There will be a free will offering collected. You can also enjoy some homebaked cookies and warm apple cider. For more informatio­n, call Shirley Twist at 705-749-2018.

Community Care Lakefield

Community Care is offering some free tech workshops from

Tek Savvy Seniors. On Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. there will be smartphone support, and from 2 to 3 p.m. there will be iPad and laptop support. These sessions are free and will be located at 40 Rabbit St. in Lakefield.

Community Care will also have a Christmas Craft and Bake Sale on Dec. 5 from 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. at 40 Rabbit St. in Lakefield.

Lakefield Historical Society

The Lakefield Historical Society will hold its next public gathering at 7 p.m. on Nov. 29 at the Lakefield Legion, located at 10 Nicholls Street. Lois MacEachern, owner of the Chocolate Rabbit in Lakefield, will share her interest in the business of making chocolate treats. All are welcome to attend.

Day Ladies Curling Club

The Lakefield Day Ladies Curlers were busy this week. Curlers participat­ed in bonspiels in Port Perry, Lindsay and Ennismore. On Nov. 14, Linda Parcels skipped the winning team of Kerry Schumacher, Jane Brown and Deb Shaw in the Maple Leaf Ladies Open Bonspiel at the Port Perry Curling Club. On the same day, Carol Kidd (skip- 1 win), Susan Sayer, Deb Wiltshire, Deb O’Grady and Lois Cole (skip), Linda Kapron, Karen Fry, Susan Pirie, played in the DeNure Tours Bonspiel at the Lindsay Curling Club.

Two Ladies teams played in the Winnie’s Winter Warm-up Bonspiel in Ennismore on Wednesday as well. Diane Horner (skip), Fran Morton, Melody Armitage, MJ Jackman and Joyce Arsenault (skip), Carol McKenzie, Pat Donegan and Renée Théroux represente­d the Lakefield Club.
