Ing Lakefield 3-1

The North Kawartha Knights took over first place in the PJHL Orr Division with a 3-1 win over the Lakefield Chiefs in Apsley on Saturday night.

The Knights (16-3-1) moved two points ahead of the Chiefs (15-5-1) stop the standings with one game in hand.

Ryan Shaughness­y scored for Lakefield assisted by Ethan Young and James Allen. Trent Schutt scored a pair of goals including an empty-net tally for North Kawartha. Noah Flood also scored.

Ex-Chief Luke Miller made 28 saves for the win while Michael Christie stopped 31 shots in a losing cause.

The Chiefs host the Little Britain Merchants 7:25 p.m. Tuesday at the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre.
