Man arrested after teen sexually assaulted
City police arrested one man and are looking for possible other victims after a teenager was allegedly sexually assaulted and forcibly confined in a vehicle.
Police say a teenaged girl standing outside a George Street North restaurant was offered a ride home by a stranger at about 3:20 a.m. on Nov. 11.
The girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and prevented from leaving the vehicle before the man dropped her back off on George Street. The incident was later reported to police.
A suspect was located Monday near Brock and George streets and was arrested. Mostafa Alkhalil, 40, of McDonnel Street, was charged with sexual assault and forcible confinement. Police believe there may be other victims out there.
The suspect is described as having a shorter build and short, dark hair with dark facial hair. He speaks with a Middle Eastern accent and drives a dark-coloured vehicle.
Anyone with information can call Det. Const. Mike Stephens at 705-876-1122. Alkahalil was held in custody and was to appear in court Tuesday.
