Santa Shuffle, Elf Walk hit Peterborou­gh streets

Fun annual event is a fundraiser for local Salvation Army projects

The Salvation Army is teaming up with the Running Room to for the 28th annual Santa Shuffle fundraiser, planned for Saturday, 10 a.m. at Auburn Bible Chapel, 911 Armour Rd.

The Santa Shuffle is an annual 5 km fun run and 1 km elf walk to fundraise for local Salvation Army projects to provide support to those in need across Canada. Funds from the event stay in the community.

This family-oriented event is for all ages and skill levels and takes place in 38 locations across Canada.

The cost for individual­s doing the 5K & 1k Elf Walk is $30 for adults and $20 for youths. A family team of six in the 5 km and 1 km Elf Walk is $90; a group of 10 people taking part in the 5 km & 1 km Elf Walk is $225.

Race kit pick up is available Nov. 29 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. or Nov. 30 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Peterborou­gh Running Room, 210 Hunter St. West, Unit 3; or on-site on race day, Dec. 1, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Auburn Bible Chapel, 911 Armour Rd. N.

Dance fundraiser

Move N' Groove dance studio presents "Tis the Season" fundraiser event happening Dec. 1 starting at 8 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 386 Rogers Street.

The evening includes a silent auction, draw prizes, cash bar, food and music from Silver Lining and DJ Shawn Hurd.

Proceeds from the event support Sick Kids Foundation and the Paediatric Oncology Group of Ontario at PRHC.

Spaghetti Supper

Saint Luke’s hosts their monthly community spaghetti dinner, set for Dec. 8 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the church, 566 Armour Rd.

The meal includes homemade meat sauce (vegan available), spaghetti, crusty bread, salad, beverages and desserts.

Cost is $5 or pay-what-you-can. Organizers suggest arriving at 15 minute intervals to avoid waiting. Proceeds from the dinner help to support the outreach and ministry of St Luke's.

heatre Guild

The PTG presents a new take on Rapunzel as their annual Christmas play.

This version is a new, original Canadian family play written by S.G. Lee Bolton, based on the Brothers Grimm classic fairy tale, Rapunzel.

The rollicking comedy is presented as a panto, a traditiona­l fairy tale complete with songs, dances, jokes, exaggerate­d characters and lots of audience participat­ion. Performanc­e days are Dec. 11 to Dec. 16 at the guildhall, 364 Rogers St.

Dec. 15 and Dec. 16 are matinees, starting at 2 p.m. For this production, evening performanc­es start at 7 p.m.
