Lock it or lose it this holiday season

The OPP is reminding residents to Lock It or Lose It this holiday season.

The campaign is being used to help decrease theft.

The organization reminds you to always roll up your vehicle’s windows, lock the doors and pocket the key. They suggest that if you have a garage, use it and lock the door as well as your vehicle.

Another good way to avoid having something stolen is to always park your vehicle in a well-lit area, the OPP states.

Make sure to never leave valuable objects or packages in full view, and instead put them in the trunk. Finally, never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running.

With these tips, police say, you can avoid having your Christmas presents or other items stolen.
