OPP clocks speeders, two drivers charged

Peterborough County OPP clocked a vehicle doing 189 km/h in a 100-km/h zone near on Highway 115 on Friday morning. Police stopped the driver near Cavan Monaghan, south of Peterborough.

Mhd Alhamawi, 21, of Peterborough, was charged with stunt driving in relation to excessive speed. His vehicle was impounded and his licence suspended for seven days. He’s to appear in court Jan. 14.

Another speeder was spotted Saturday evening near Cavan Monaghan Township, with a vehicle doing 155 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

Bart Promny, 39, of Oakville, was charged with stunt driving in relation to excessive speed. His vehicle was impounded and his licence suspended for seven days. He will be in court Jan. 14.
