Arrest after neighbour spots burglary attempt
TWEED — A day after Central Hastings OPP investigated a pair of daytime break-ins on Katherine Street and Metcalfe Street in Tweed, an alert neighbour reported another burglary in progress on Metcalfe Street.
The call came in Friday. Witnesses saw a man trying to break into a house and followed him when he left, later seeing him trying to get into another home. Police arrive and found a suspect inside the house.
Ronald McCloskey, 36, of Belleville was charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, three counts of breaking and entering, possession of break-in tools and failing to comply with probation. He was to appear in court Monday for a bail hearing.
