Police officer tracks down shoplifting suspect

City police have arrested a local man after clothing was stolen from a downtown store.

Police say a man entered the George Street N. sports store at about 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, took sweaters off a shelf and left without paying.

A police officer saw a store employee chasing a man and stepped in, making an arrest shortly after.

Terry Pheap Thang, 32, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was charged with theft under $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.
