Apartment complex evacuated by kitchen fire
Occupants of a 12-unit apartment building on Armour Road were evacuated Thursday afternoon after a small kitchen fire.
City firefighters were called in around 3:15 p.m. Thursday after the kitchen fire in a second-floor unit of the building.
Occupants of the unit fled from the unit, Platoon Chief Jeff Guest stated, and then other occupants of the building evacuated when the alarm system went off.
No one was injured.
The blaze was contained to the unit’s kitchen.
The cause was determined to be accidental, according to Guest. Damage was estimated at $2,000. Firefighters ventilated smoke from the second floor of the building.
