Day-care rebate available

Peterborough Children’s Services is offering a one-time refund of up to $1,950 for child care fees to families who live in the city and county.

It is available to those who used licensed infant and/or toddler care (ages newborn to 2 1/2 years, being charged the infant/toddler rate) between Jan. 1 and Sept. 30, 2018 and used licensed centrebased or home-based care in the city or county.

Families must also have paid full fees or received a partial fee subsidy to be eligible.

The funding will be provided to eligible licensed child care operators who will refund child care fees to families at a rate of $10 per day for full-day care and $8 per day for part-day care used between Jan. 1 and Sept. 30, 2018. The refund is part of a partnership between the city and provincial and federal governments to make licensed child care more affordable, officials stated.
