Cyclist facing drug charges

A city man is facing drug charges after police initially stopped him for having improper lighting on his bicycle early Friday morning.

The cyclist was stopped by an officer at about 12:10 a.m. Friday near Aylmer and Rink streets, police said.

The man was found to be in possession of purple heroin (heroin mixed with fentanyl) and crack cocaine, police said.

Mackenzie David Smith, 23, of no fixed address, Peterborou­gh, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and failing to comply with a recognizan­ce.

He was held in custody for a court hearing Friday.
