Lake­field Lions, Li­on­ess clubs col­lect­ing toys

Drive sup­ports the Sal­va­tion Army Christ­mas Ap­peal

The Lake­field Li­on­ess/Lions Club An­nual Toy Drive is on now un­til Satur­day. They have teamed up with Coun­try 105 and En­ergy 99.7 for the An­nual Christ­mas Toy Drive in sup­port of the Sal­va­tion Army Christ­mas Ap­peal for area chil­dren and fam­i­lies in need. Do­nate new, un­wrapped toys now. All toys will be picked up on Satur­day and de­liv­ered on the new “Toy Bus” to Lans­downe Place in time for the Mir­a­cle Broad­cast. Lis­ten to Coun­try 105 or En­ergy 99.7 for a list of lo­ca­tions or come in to one of over 25 lo­ca­tions the Vil­lage of Lake­field.

The Lake­field Li­on­ess Lions are also hav­ing a Christ­mas Cake Fundraiser. Tra­di­tional Christ­mas Fruit Cakes are $18 each and are avail­able from Sa­lon Sorella in Lake­field on Fri­day, or you can or­der through Ar­lene Jes­sop at 705-933-9003.

The Li­on­ess Club will also have a Christ­mas Bake Sale on Sun­day from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Lake­field Le­gion, lo­cated at 10 Ni­cholls Street. The sale will fea­ture a va­ri­ety of home baked good­ies and Lions Christ­mas Fruit Cakes just in time for your hol­i­day en­ter­tain­ing. Funds raised help sup­port var­i­ous fam­i­lies and needs within our com­mu­nity.

Chemung Lions

The Chemung Lake Dis­trict Lions Club will be pro­vid­ing Christ­mas ham­pers to fam­i­lies in the Bridgenorth and En­nis­more area. Reg­is­tra­tion can be done in per­son at the Sel­wyn Town­ship of­fice, and reg­is­tra­tion will close on Fri­day Dec. 7 at the end of their busi­ness day. Ham­pers can be picked up on Satur­day Dec. 22 at the En­nis­more Com­mu­nity Care of­fice 549 En­nis Road from 9 a.m. un­til 12 p.m. There are no home de­liv­er­ies avail­able. Any­one wish­ing to make a do­na­tion of food or toys for chil­dren can drop them off at the En­nis­more Com­mu­nity Care of­fice dur­ing reg­u­lar busi­ness hours.

Lake­field Le­gion Branch 77

The Lake­field Le­gion Branch 77 has a num­ber of fun events com­ing up to help you get in the Christ­mas spirit. Their Fab­u­lous Fri­day Night din­ner is be­ing held this Fri­day, and it will be a turkey din­ner with all the trim­mings. Tick­ets are $15 in ad­vance (by Wed­nes­day prior) or $18 at the door. Re­serve your ad­vance tick­ets by call­ing 705-652-7988.

There will be a Christ­mas Turkey Spin at 2 p.m. on De­cem­ber 15. Buy a ticket for a toonie for a chance to win a turkey, ham or prize from the prize ta­ble. This is an age of ma­jor­ity event and will be held down­stairs in the clu­b­room.

A Spe­cial Christ­mas Bingo will be pre­sented on De­cem­ber 18. Cards and tick­ets go on sale at 6 p.m. and the hall opens at 5:30 pm. As well as the $1,050 in prizes, the $1,000 Jack­pot will be awarded. Christ­mas prizes and gifts will be raf­fled off (tick­ets are $2 each or 3 for $5) and Christ­mas sweets and good­ies will be avail­able for munch­ing. Christ Church Com­mu­nity Mu­seum

Christ Church Com­mu­nity Mu­seum in­vites you to join them at their an­nual Christ­mas Tree Light­ing at 6:30 p.m. on Fri­day. Af­ter the tree light­ing, there will be carol singing in the church with spe­cial guests Jes­sica Ross and Noah Abra­hamse. There will be a free will of­fer­ing col­lected. Com­mu­nity Care Lake­field

Com­mu­nity Care will also have a Christ­mas Craft and Bake Sale on Dec. 5 from 9:30 a.m. un­til 12 p.m. at 40 Rab­bit St. in Lake­field.
