A city police officer smelled alcohol after stopping a speeding vehicle Nov. 24 near George and Lansdowne streets.

The driver, Kirk Gordon Haley, 61, of Champlain Crescent, was charged with driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in blood. He received a 90-day automatic licence suspension and a sevenday vehicle impoundment.
