Two local men face charges after being arrested during a childpornography sweep carried out by police forces across the province.

The investigation, called The Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet, involved the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Section, 26 municipal police services, the Attorney General and the Ministry Community Safety and Correctional Services.

The month-long investigation, dedicated to stopping online crime involving children, took place in November, resulting in 551 charges against 122, including youth people who can’t be named.

A Peterborough resident and Selwyn Township resident were among those who were charged.

Tyler Krobath, 29, of Peterborough, was charged with possession of child pornography, import, distribute, sell or possess for the purpose of distribution child pornography and accessing child pornography.

He appeared in court Nov. 22 and will return on Dec. 6.

City also police assisted the OPP in a search of a Peterborough County home.

Robert Alguire, 57, of Selwyn Township, was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of making available child pornography.

He appeared in court Nov. 30 and will return on Dec. 7.

Another investigation in Peterborough is ongoing after a warrant seized electronics that are pending forensic examination. A total of 38 electronic devices were taken for further examination.

The province-wide investigation identified 55 victims, who were referred to communitybased resources for assistance.
