Chiefs, Ice skate to draw

LAKEFIELD -- Lakefield’s Zac Treen scored with 50 seconds left in the third period to tie the game before overtime decided nothing as the Chiefs tied the visiting Georgina Ice 3-3 at the LakefieldS­mith Community Centre on Tuesday night.

Georgina scored the lone goal of the first period before adding another in the second to go up 2-0 before the teams exchanged goals to give the Ice a 3-2 lead going into the third.

William Keith and John Post also scored for the Chiefs, while Ethan Young, Adam Kitchen and Jesse Merrill each had assists. Michael Christie made 21 saves for the Chiefs, while Theo Heropoulos made 35 for the Ice. Lakefield (17-5-0-3) remains in second place in the PJHL Orr Division with 34 points, two points ahead of third place Uxbridge. In other action, divisionle­ading North Kawartha defeated Cambellfor­d 15-1.

Lakefield returns to action Thursday in Clarington. They play in North Kawartha Saturday night before hosting Clarington next Tuesday at 7:25 p.m.
