- ELIZABETH PEETERS

Congratulations to the Omemee Lions Club for another great Santa Claus parade. Winners of the various categories are as follows: Schools and Churches: Lady Eaton Elementary School. Commercial: Green Side Up. Public: Murray Fallaise. NonProfit: 1st Omemee Scouting.

A substantial amount of nonperishable food items were collected by members of Scouting for the Food bank. Thanks to all the generous donors.

Lavelle family

Once again the residents of the Omemee area came through for one of their own. For the past two months the Omemee Lions Club is in the midst of a new campaign to assist the Lavelle family. Jennifer has severe spina bifida, requires 24-hour care and is confined to her bed and wheelchair. She requires a special high-tech mattress. Not only was the goal met, it was exceeded and the new mattress has been ordered and will arrive before Christmas. Additional funds raised will be used to offset prescription costs not covered by the province. Thanks to everyone who made a donation to help Jennifer.

A jam session will be held Dec. 22, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Legion. For information call Jim 705-799-6912.

Youth curling takes place at the Omemee Curling Centre, James St. each Sunday, 1-3 pm, $5 per person. No experience or equipment is needed. Youth should bring a pair of clean running shoes.
