Township offers free public skating in Lakefield
The Township of Selwyn is offering free public skating at the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre from noon to 1 p.m. this Saturday and on Dec. 22.
There will also be free public skating at the Ennismore Community Centre from 1 to 2 p.m. this Sunday, as well as on Dec. 23 and 30. Seniors can also skate for free every Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Ennismore Community Centre, and at the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Selwyn Public Library
The Selwyn Public Library is offering an Essential Oils Presentation where you can learn about using essential oils. It will be in the Lakefield Library Centennial Room at 10 a.m. on January 11. Registration is required, so phone the library at 705-652-8623 to reserve your seat.
The library is also offering a presentation entitled Intro to Naturopathy, presented by Healthy Foundations Naturopathic Clinic. It will be on Feb.11 at 10 a.m. at the Ennismore Library. Spaces are limited, so phone the library at 705-2928022 to reserve your seat.
Lakefield Legion Branch 77
There will be a Christmas Turkey Spin at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Buy a ticket for a toonie for a chance to win a
turkey, ham or prize from the prize table. This is an age of majority event and will be held downstairs in the clubroom.
A Special Christmas Bingo will be presented on December 18. Cards and tickets go on sale at 6 p.m. and the hall opens at 5:30 pm. As well as the $1,050 in prizes, the $1,000 Jackpot will be awarded. Christmas prizes and gifts will be raffled off (tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5) and Christmas sweets and goodies will be available for munching. This is an age of majority event open to everyone. Bridgenorth United Church
There will be a Women's Coffee Hour meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. The theme will be “Tinsel and Tears." Coffee and treats will be provided, and all women are welcome.
Bridgenorth United Church will have a Choir Candlelight Service at 7 p.m. this Sunday. There will also be a Christmas Calm Service entitled “I Need a Quiet Night, a Holy Night” at 7 p.m. on December 23. This will be a quiet, meditative service with music by solo voice, guitar and keyboard. There will be time to light a candle for a loved one.
The Christmas Eve service will be at 6 p.m. on December 24. It will be a family service with music provided by the Tarnished Angels band.
All are welcome to each event.

Fairview United Church will be having a Christmas Eve Service at 7 p.m. on Dec. 24.
