EPPING KNOCKED OUT OF PLAYOFFS IN Estevan

Peterborough’s John Epping defeated Regina’s Matt Dunstone 7-5 in his final round-robin game Friday night but it wasn’t enough to make the playoffs of the 2018 Home Hardware Canada Cup of Curling in Estevan, Sask.

Epping overcame an early deficit to go up 4-3 with two in the fifth end. Dunstone rallied to tie it 5-5 before Epping scored two in the ninth to win. He finished the round-robin with a 3-3 record and in fifth place in the eight-team field.

The crushing blow for Epping was a last shot loss earlier in the day to Sault Ste. Marie’s Brad Jacobs who executed a perfect in-off double takeout to score two in the 10th end to nip Epping 7-6.
