Monster Truck benefit show Dec. 22
Jim McKee organizing concert at The Venue to benefit Kawartha Food Share, Five Counties Children’s Centre
Concert promoter Jim McKee is turning the upcoming Monster Truck performance into a fundraising event for Peterborough charities.
McKee, owner of Skyrockers Entertainment, is using the concert to help raise money for Five Counties Children’s Centre and Kawartha Food Share. He will also be collecting toys at the door for the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation.
“I’m using the concert because it’s Christmas and I’d like to help local charities so I’m asking people to make donations,” McKee said.
People are asked to donate through a GoFundMe campaign McKee has established. Those who donate will be eligible for prizes including a one night’s stay at Peterborough Inn and Suites, dinner for two at Riley’s Pub on George Street, as well as two tickets to the Monster Truck concert with a VIP table for two.
This is McKee’s first foray into concert promoting. He’s known for hosting the Valleymore Park fireworks display in a neighbourhood park along Spillsbury Drive, where he collects thousands of dollars in donations for charity.
He wanted to try his hand at concert promoting and decided to bring Monster Truck back to Peterborough.
“I picked Monster Truck because they haven’t been to Peterborough in a while and they just came out with a new album,” McKee said.
The opening acts for the show are Revive The Rose and Crown Lands.
The concert is on Dec. 22 at The Venue on George Street starting at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $32 plus tax and are available at www.ticketscene.ca.
NOTE: To make a donation for the charities, visit www.gofundme.com and search Kawartha Food Share. As of late Monday, eight people had donated a total of $755 toward a $2,000 goal.
