Alliance plans to make noise for climate change

-

The Peterborough Alliance for Climate Action is holding an event called Drum for the Planet on Friday at noon.

The group will start at Peterborough Square, at Charlotte and Water streets, and march through the downtown making noise with drums, pots and pans, whistles and more.

They’ll then hold a rally at the Ministry of the Environment offices at Robinson Place at 300 Water St. at about 1 p.m.

“The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of the lack of government action on climate change in general, and specifically, to protest the provincial government’s ineffective plans to address carbon emissions in Ontario,” states a press release from the group.

“We will call on our MPP Dave Smith and Premier Doug Ford to act more forcefully to address the growing effects of the climate breakdown we are experiencing.”
