Bobby Roode wins WWE Raw tag team championship
Peterborough professional wrestler Bobby Roode has won the World Wrestling Entertainment Raw tag team championship with his partner Chad Gable.
They won the belts Monday night on the live Raw broadcast from San Diego, Calif. from the Authors of Pain and their manager Drake Maverick in a two-onthree handicap match.
Roode pinned Maverick for the win, gaining some glorious revenge after Maverick had stolen and later desecrated Roode’s prized robe on previous Raw episodes.
It’s the third championship for Roode since he joined the WWE in 2016 after 12 years with TNA Impact Wrestling.
He won the NXT men’s championship in January 2017 from Shinsuke Nakamura and lost it to Drew McIntyre in August 2017 just before he was brought up to the WWE Smackdown brand. He then held the United States championship on Smackdown between January and March of this year.
In April, he was moved to the WWE Raw brand.
It’s his first title on Raw, which airs live on Mondays from 8 to 11 p.m. on Rogers Sportsnet 360 in Canada and on the USA Network in the United States.
