Competitive athletes at the Kawartha Trent Synchro Club participated in their first competition of the season Dec. 1 and 2 in Etobicoke.

The competition was a qualifying meet for the rest of the season where athletes compete in individual skills in front of judging panels.

“The competitive structure of our sport has undergone a major overhaul at the national level,” stated KTSC head coach Dani Smith, in a club press release, “which has filtered down to all clubs country wide. The result has been a change of scheduling in Ontario meets making this competition earlier than we have been used to in the past.”

Despite this new time crunch, coaches were happy with their swimmers results.

“This competition gives us an idea of where our swimmers stand in relation to the rest of the province,” stated coach Holly Bosnell. “We are happy with how our swimmers placed and feel confident going forward with the season”

The junior team competed in the Junior Element category. Results are Ally Sandiland 22, Jayden Thomas 44, Myah Sandiland 51, Sabrina Adam 52, Grace Blewett 73, Allison Adam 77, Meghan Graham 94, Morgan Crowley 101, Kaelyn Stoyles 103. The team is coached by Bosnell and Smith.

In the 13-15 Figure Event, Kate Miske came 161, Ella Dummitt 176, Jane Hickey 198, Lilly Fenton 206, Brynne Kyle 218, Lauren Chambers 220. The team is coached by Sarah Birkbeck.

KTSC’s 11-12 team results included Adeline McCully 35, Hannah Loch 101, Olivia Davis 123, Addyson Hoyle 147, Shylah Van Rooyen 151, Charlotte Watson 154, Kyrsten White 165. This team is coached by Myranda Hawthorne and Bosnell.

KTSC athletes next compete in the new year with the junior and 13-15 routines returning to Etobicoke for the first routine meet of the season Jan. 18 to 20. The 11-12 and Novice level athletes compete at the Trillium East Regionals Feb 1 and 2.
