Fifty years of art is on display at The Mount’s gallery
Murray Hofstetter Retrospective continues until Jan. 14
The show Murray Hofstetter: Retrospective continues in the Heritage Room at The Mount Community Centre, 1545 Monaghan Rd. until Jan. 14, with 50 years of his paintings on display. His works explore nature and form in a variety of media.
“Murray’s work is simply remarkable,” says Ellen Cowie, curator. “We invite everyone to see his conte drawings, ink on paper and oil paintings. His loving wife Bronwen, now deceased, inspired Murray to do figurative work as well.”
Cowie says that Hofstetter captures landscapes from across Ontario in strong, bold strokes.
The gallery is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enter through the main doorway at the north end of the building.
Three Degrees of Abstraction
The Three Degrees of Abstraction show continues in the Art and Healing Gallery at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, 1 Hospital Dr., until Feb. 15, featuring the abstract works of Donna Bolam, Carol Forbes, and Barb Reeves.
These three artists found a special affinity with each other through their love of abstract art when they first met at the Kawartha Artists’ Gallery and Studio two years ago.
Bolam says that the philosophy of PRHC’s Art and Healing program of displaying art that enhances the healing process, provides comfort and celebrates life, resonated with this group.
The gallery is located in the corridors off the hospital’s main floor entrance.
On the Move Show
The On the Move: Travelling through the Ages show continues until Jan. 20 at the Kawartha Artists’ Gallery and Studio, 420 O’Connell Rd. featuring paintings on the theme of transportation, from canoes and railways through to cars and space travel.
The gallery is open Wednesdays to Sundays, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, please call 705-741-2817, visit www.kawarthaartists.org or like them on Facebook.
