Woman struck with drink

A 54-year-old Aylmer Street North man has been arrested and charged with assault after a Tuesday afternoon incident at a Charlotte Street bar.

On Tuesday a woman was working at the bar when the man approached her and struck her with a canned beverage, police said. The man also threatened the victim, then left the area, police said. The two know each other. On Wednesday, officers located arrested the man at a Peterborough home.

Jeffrey Leon Dodds, 54, was charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, breach of recognizance and fail to comply with the conditions of an undertaking.

He was held in custody and was to appear in court Thursday.
