Curl­ing for Com­mu­nity Care in En­nis­more

Fundrais­ing tour­na­ment will take place Feb. 16 and spa­ces are lim­ited

Com­mu­nity Care will host Curl­ing for Care on Feb. 16 at the En­nis­more Curl­ing Club, lo­cated at 555 En­nis Rd., En­nis­more. This is a char­ity event to sup­port the health and well-be­ing of in­di­vid­u­als, care­givers and com­mu­ni­ties. Pro­grams and ser­vices avail­able from Com­mu­nity Care Peter­bor­ough al­low clients to main­tain their in­de­pen­dence and dig­nity. The cost to reg­is­ter is $40 per curler or $160 per team.

There will be two games with six ends each with a chili and soup lunch pro­vided. The first draw will be at 9 a.m. and the sec­ond will be at 10:45 a.m. and all are wel­come, in­clud­ing be­gin­ners. Brooms and slid­ers will be pro­vided, so all you need are clean in­door shoes. There will be raf­fles and other games to en­joy. Spa­ces are lim­ited. Soldier On Bon­spiel

The En­nis­more Curl­ing Club is hold­ing a fundrais­ing bon­spiel in sup­port of Soldier On and is look­ing for curlers and non-curlers to par­tic­i­pate. The bon­spiel will be Fe­bru­ary 23, and the day will in­clude games with six ends each. Lunch and din­ner will be pro­vided, as well as a spe­cial of­fi­cial cer­e­mony hon­our­ing the Cana­dian mil­i­tary.

There will be vol­un­teers avail­able to help non-curlers par­tic­i­pate in the games. Soldier On pro­grams sup­port serv­ing mem­bers and vet­er­ans to over­come phys­i­cal and men­tal in­juries by rein­tro­duc­ing them to phys­i­cal ac­tiv­i­ties and sports. They fund, through pri­vate do­na­tions, sport­ing camps and pro­vide grants for adap­tive sport­ing equip­ment to their par­tic­i­pants. Lake­field Lions Club

The Lake­field Dis­trict Lions Club will host a Valen­tine’s Day Dance Fundraiser on Fe­bru­ary 16 from 8 p.m. to mid­night at the Lake­field Le­gion, lo­cated at 10 Ni­cholls Street. The dance will fea­ture the True Con­fes­sions Band play­ing mu­sic from the ‘60s and ‘70s. Tick­ets are $25 each and can be pur­chased on­line at or in per­son with cash only at Hap­pen­stance Books & Yarns in Lake­field.

Bridgenorth United Church

Bridgenorth United Church will hold a Spaghetti Din­ner on Fe­bru­ary 2 as part of Po­lar­fest week­end. It will fea­ture mu­si­cal en­ter­tain­ment with the Tar­nished An­gels and other guest mu­si­cians and singers. Din­ner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. and tick­ets for adults will be $10, and tick­ets for chil­dren ages 7 and un­der will be $5.

Sel­wyn Pub­lic Li­brary

Start­ing Jan­uary 24, 2019 the Lake­field Li­brary will have a monthly Cof­fee House at 7 p.m. in the Cen­ten­nial Room. Come share your tal­ent! Artists, po­ets, mu­si­cians and sto­ry­tellers are all wel­come.

You can read work by an­other per­son or work of your own. It will be on the third Thurs­day of the month at 7 p.m. from Jan­uary (ex­cept the fourth Thurs­day in Jan­uary) to May 2019. No reg­is­tra­tion is re­quired, and re­fresh­ments will be pro­vided. Win­ter Walk­ing Drop-In

Tie up the laces on your run­ning shoes and take ad­van­tage of the win­ter walk­ing drop-in at the En­nis­more Com­mu­nity Cen­tre, lo­cated at 553 En­nis Road. The doors are open for res­i­dents to en­joy an in­door walk­ing space dur­ing the win­ter months at no charge.
