Chiefs lose second in a row

The Lakefield Hendren Funeral Home Chiefs lost their second game in a row, for only their seventh loss of the season, on Friday night when they were edged 4-3 by the Uxbridge Bruins in Uxbridge.

The defending Schmalz Cup provincial champion Chiefs (24-71-2) are clinging to a one-point lead in the PJHL Orr Division but the third-place Bruins (23-7-2-0) drew within four points with the win and a 2-2 tie with the North Kawartha Knights on Saturday. Uxbridge holds two games in hand while the second-place Boyer Auto Group Knights (24-51-1) are just one point behind with three games in hand.

The Chiefs led 2-1 after the first period on goals by Mitch Ogilvie from Cole Ellis and James Allen from Ethan Young and Cole Robbins.

Uxbridge scored three goals in a row in the second period to take the lead. William Keith scored from Carson Hartwick later in the second period to make it 4-3. The Chiefs faced the Tod Division's Amerstview Jets Sunday night. A score was not available at press time. The Chiefs host the Bruins for a rematch at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday at home.
