Man charged with threatening police
City police have charged a local man after an incident early Sunday morning.
An officer patrolling the downtown after last call saw a shouting man near George and King streets who appeared to be trying to engage others in a fight, police stated.
The officer told the man to leave the area, as he was causing a disturbance, but the man kept yelling.
The officer arrested him; it’s alleged the man threatened police while this was happening. Michael Dean Shaw, 28, of Maniece Avenue, was charged with causing a disturbance and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. He was released and is to appear in court Jan. 31.
