Back to school means busier roads and sidewalks
The Ontario Provincial Police is reminding motorists that with the new school year starting Tuesday, motorists can expect to see more pedestrians, cyclists and school buses.
“Motorists are advised to give themselves extra commuting time and prepare to have minor delays,” the OPP say.
The law requires drivers encountering a stopped school bus with its overhead red signals flashing to stop before reaching the bus, not moving until the bus moves or the lights stop flashing. The minimum fine for failing to stop for a school bus is $400 and six demerit points.
