Students’ moms preparing Chinese delights to benefit The Warming Room

Enjoy some special dumplings, salads and pie at St. John’s Anglican Church on Saturday

This Saturday, there will be a special event to support Warming Room Community Ministries of Peterborou­gh.

Freshly-made Chinese dumplings and salads will be available in the Parish Hall of St. John’s Anglican Church in Lakefield at 5 p.m.

The delicious food will be made by a group of mothers from China whose children attend the Lakefield College School.

Chemung Lions

Chemung Lake Lions are hosting their second annual Fall Lunch Fundraiser this Thursday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Lakehurst Community Centre, 979 Lakehurst Circle Rd.

There will be a soup and sandwich lunch followed by dessert. Tickets cost $10 each.

There will also be a loonie auction for prizes. All funds raised will be donated to the Peterborou­gh Regional Health Centre Foundation in support of the children’s cancer unit, cardiology, the neonatal unit and other children’s care.

Chemung Community Care

This Thursday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. there will be a wheelchair and walker clinic at the Chemung Community Care Office, 549 Ennis Rd. in Ennismore.

Lakefield Village Lions Club

This Wednesday, the Lakefield Village Lions Club will host a Community Soup Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Lakefield Legion, 10 Nicholls St. All are welcome so come early for good food and fellowship. Take Out will be available while quantities last. Donations will be gratefully accepted, and all proceeds will support Diabetes Canada.

Selwyn Public Library

On Oct. 7 there will be a genealogy workshop by Dr. Fraser Dunford of the Kawartha Branch of the Ontario Genealogic­al Society. The topic will be “The Genealogy of Place.” Most genealogis­ts research a family, so how different is it if you are researchin­g the genealogy of an entire community? This talk is based on Fraser Dunford’s decade-long research of the early settlers in Dummer Township. The workshop will be at 1 p.m. on Oct. 7 in the Optimist Hall, located one level below the Ennismore Library at 551 Ennis Rd.

Christ Church Community Museum

Christ Church Community Museum will be hosting its annual fashion show on Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Parish Hall in St. John the Baptist Church in Lakefield. There will be dessert before the show that will feature clothes from Style Boutique. The cost for admission is $15 and tickets are available at Happenstan­ce in Lakefield. Lakefield Youth Unlimited

Lakefield Youth Unlimited will host a fundraiser dinner on Oct. 17 at the Lakefield Legion, 10 Nicholls St. There will be punch served at 5:30 p.m. and a chicken dinner at 6 p.m. Contact Katie to receive more informatio­n and to RSVP by Oct. 10.
