Petes create player awards
One Petes player and players from local minor clubs recognized
Ethan Campbell, Kaylynn Fisher and Teegan Delaney are the inaugural winner of a new award created by the Peterborough Petes to honour local minor hockey players.
Each week the Petes will recognize one of their own players, along with players from the PMHC, PHA, PGHA and local adaptive hockey organizations. Selected recipients will receive tickets to an upcoming Petes game, social media recognition, a certificate of recognition and other prizes.
Semyon Der-Arguchintsev is the inaugural Petes player of the week. During the Ontario Hockey League’s opening week, Der-Arguchintsev registered three assists as the Petes skated to a 6-4 victory against the London Knights in their season opener before putting up four assists in a 9-6 loss to the Windsor Spitfires, for a total of seven assists in two games.
The Toronto Maple Leafs prospect led the OHL in points, assists and power-play points after week 1 and is OHL On the Run player of the week. Campbell (PMHC) led his Sharps Peterborough bantam AAA Petes with four goals in a 5-3 victory over the North York Rangers at the Toronto Red Wings Early Bird Tournament earlier this month.
Delaney (PHA) lifted the 180 Hunter minor atom AA Petes over the defending OMHA champion Burlington Eagles Gold with a late goal to give his team a 2-1 win in the final of the Kawartha Lakes AA Tournament.
Fisher (PGHA), a defenceman for the Peewee A Ice Kats, works incredibly hard. She is very polite and is welcoming to everyone around at the rink.
The Petes welcome coaches, volunteers, parents and other spectators to nominate deserving local minor hockey athletes at gopetesgo.com.
