Netflix series ‘Ginny and Georgia’ returns to Cobourg for filming; production company will set up harvest festival at Victoria Hall

PORT HOPE — HB One Production­s Inc. is filming scenes in Port Hope this week for the Hulu television series “The Hardy Boys.”

Crews will be in the municipali­ty until Wednesday filming interior and exterior scenes on Walton and Queen streets, in Memorial and Rotary parks, the Union and St. John cemeteries, John Street and the West Beach.

Traffic stoppages of up to three minutes, conducted by Port Hope police, have been approved for Walton, Queen, Augusta and John streets for filming.

Production equipment vehicles were parked for most of Monday on Walton Street, Queen Street, Augusta Street and the Elias Street pay and display parking. They were then moved to the Canadian Tire building parking lot.

On Tuesday, parking spots have been reserved at West Beach playground from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Union and St. John’s cemeteries from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the filming. On Wednesday, parking spots have been reserved at John Street from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. and West Beach from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Film notificati­on letters were distribute­d to residents and business owners in the vicinity of all filming locations.

Meanwhile, filming of the new Netflix TV series “Ginny and Georgia” by the production company G2G Series Inc. will be coming back to Cobourg on Oct. 7, following three days of shooting there in August

The 10-episode series is a motherdaug­hter coming of age series featuring Antonia Gentry and Brianne Howey (“The Passage”), who will play the daughter and mother.

“Ginny and Georgia” focuses on Ginny Miller, a 15-year-old who often feels more mature than her 30-year-old mother Georgia Miller.

After years on the run, Georgia wants to put down roots in the charming New England town of Wellsbury, Mass. and give her family a normal life.

For Ginny, that means navigating a prestigiou­s school, rising popularity, and complicate­d love interests.

On Oct. 7, the production company will begin to set up a harvest festival with a stage in front of Victoria Hall at 55 King St. W. for filming the following day. The town said the set will be dismantled by Oct. 9 at 9 a.m. People will still have access to Victoria Hall through guided walkways to avoid disruption of filming.

Film production vehicles will park in assigned areas on Second Street, at the Market Building parking lot and the Albert Street parking lot beside the transit shelter.

Road closure notices have been issued for King Street West, which will be closed in front of Victoria Hall from Oct. 7 at 9 a.m. until Oct. 9 at 9 a.m.

Second Street and Third Street will remain open for traffic to redirect.

Street parking on Second Street will be blocked from Oct. 7 at 7 a.m. until Oct. 9 at 11 a.m.

Four street parking spots in front of El Camino on King Street West will be blocked from Oct. 7 at 7 a.m. until Oct. 9 at 11 a.m.

An additional nine street parking spots on the east side of Third Street will be blocked on Oct. 8 from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Street parking on King Street West, two spots in front of CIBC and four spots on the north side will be blocked on Oct. 8 from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Cobourg Police officers will be working directly with the production company to ensure safety and traffic control.
