Old-time radio fun comes to town

Lions presenting ‘Tea for Two’ and ‘Father Knows Best’

The Omemee Lions’ Club is presenting a live Radio Show on Oct. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Coronation Hall.

Your ticket includes a buffet dinner and two plays, “Tea for Two” and “Father Knows Best.”

Admission is $20, $10 for children 12 and under, children under five free.

Manvers history

The Manvers Historical Society is selling the reprinted book, “Laugh and the World Laughs with you in Pontypool,” for $30. It’s available at Aunt Laura’s Tea room in Bethany or at 243 and 137 Lifford Rd.

Events

St. Mary’s Lifford will hold its annual bazaar, Saturday, 9:30 to noon in the church shed, 396 Lifford Rd. There will be baking, preserves, crafts and prizes. Admission is $3, refreshmen­ts included.

If you enjoy the thrill of fantasy and role play and have a sense of adventure, the Omemee Library is looking for you for a new event. Drop into the library at 24 King St. E. or visit kawarthala­keslibrary.ca

The library holds Story Time every Saturday from 10:30-1 p.m. Come for the entire time or drop in as convenient.

Bid euchre happens every Wednesday, 7 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church, 945 Frankhill Rd, north of Fowlers Corners.

There will be a fashion show at St. James, Thursday. The evening begins at 7 p.m. with coffee, tea and desserts followed by the fashions from Style Boutique in Bridgenort­h. There will be lots of door prizes and a silent auction. Tickets are $10 and available by calling Cathy at 705-292-5144.

The Omemee Seniors meet in the Legion Tuesdays for various activities. The first, third, fourth and fifth Tuesdays are euchre beginning at 1 p.m. Cost is $2.50. A potluck is held the fourth Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Bring your favourite dish as well as a plate and cutlery to help with cleanup. Cost is $3. Annual fee is $10.

Community Care

The Community Care of City of Kawartha Lakes offers many invaluable services to the residents of our area. The office number is 705-324-7323.

Meals on Wheels are available at a nominal cost for residents of Omemee and Downeyvill­e.

The Adult Day Program is held Mondays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Trinity United Church. This program allows caregivers some needed break time as well as allowing the clients to interact with other people. Call the main office for details.

The Omemee Food bank is held the third Monday of each month at Christ Church Anglican. Non-perishable items can be donated at local churches and at Foodland.
